Homages Pour In for the Reiners as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
Well beyond 14 days following the shocking loss of renowned film director Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the couple.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, stated he finally felt prepared to express about his personal sorrow.
"Enough time has elapsed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner made him fall in love. "Once we started passing more hours together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor posted archival material from the movie, commenting that he cannot recall "a single day without laughter".
"The film is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Values that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the perfect person to guide it," Elwes wrote.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He finished with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Colleague and Comrade
In a distinct piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was very funny and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese added.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Sealed
In a new development, a Los Angeles judge decided to prevent the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A court order put a embargo on the files to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" connected to the active case.
The Medical Examiner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of murder, with a record listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Fallout and Commentary
In the wake of the deaths, public figures shared different responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, making provocative statements that were widely condemned by numerous individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the those speaking out recently. Talking on his program, Rogan described the statements as "disappointing" and remarked they revealed a concerning absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by proposing that an aide should have intervened when the impulse to weigh in on the tragedy was made.
