A systems problem at the airport's air traffic control meant all flights could enter or leave the facility.

Passenger services have resumed at Edinburgh Airport following a significant technical issue at the control tower halted all operations.

All incoming and outgoing flights were suspended after an systems problem that occurred at about 08:30.

Some passengers were left waiting in jets at the stand as the outage continued.

Flights Resume with Ongoing Delays

A statement indicated at 10:40 that flights had resumed, and expressed gratitude to passengers for their "patience and understanding".

That said, ongoing issues are expected to continue throughout the day. Flights to key destinations like Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, and Bristol have been cancelled, with many others experiencing delays.

A spokesperson had previously estimated that 27 departures and 11 arrivals could be affected.

"Travelers are urged to contact their airlines for the most up-to-date details on their specific flights," officials reiterated.

The airport attributed the full ground stop to an technical fault with its control tower systems vendor.

Passengers continue to be advised to verify the schedule of their journey before traveling to the airport as knock-on effects are worked through.
