Clair Obscur Sweeps at the 2025's Golden Joystick Ceremony
The forty-third annual Golden Joystick Awards unfolded recently, and with a remarkable display, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was crowned the biggest winner. This standout role-playing game by Sandfall Interactive earned the coveted Ultimate Game of the Year award, along with prizes for Best Storytelling and Best Visual Design.
Enhancing the studio's triumph, the talented actors also garnered individual awards. Jennifer English received Top Lead Actor for her performance as Maelle, while Ben Starr won Supporting Performance Award for his acting as Verso. Additionally, Sandfall Interactive itself received Best Development Team. Altogether, Clair Obscur and its developers won seven awards throughout the ceremony.
Additional major winners included Ghost of Yōtei, which received Top Sound Design and Best Console Game, and Hollow Knight: Silksong, winning Top Self-Published Indie and Premier PC Title. It is important to note, the majority of Golden Joystick Awards are voted on by the public, with only four categories—Critics’ Choice, Breakthrough Award, Hall of Fame inductee, and Streamer Selection—decided by experts.
