Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player the athlete and were in contact with the league office.

The team did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.

No official complaints were available in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver missed the first six games of this season due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
